Karoo Trip 2010

Karoo Photography Trip 2010...
A bus load of our enthusiastic, noisy first year photography students headed to the Karoo, north east of Sutherland.
With cameras blazing, batteries charged and no idea of what to expect, they arrived 40km outside of Middelpos…. in the middle of nowhere.

They spent the next three days and nights photographing the stars, using anything at their disposal to “paint “the landscape and randomly
found objects of interest. From spot lights, torches and flashes, to pencil torch lamps and colour gels…they painted the landscape alive with colour.
The students would do long exposures of the magnificent darkness of the Karoo landscape, catch an hour of sleep, or chat around the dying fire and
head out to catch the sunrise.
Local cuisine was on offer in abundance, from roosterkoek to boerewors rolls braaied in the Karoo veld.
The last evening was a true South African affair, three teams, three potjie pots, veggie, chicken and lamb recipes’
and 4 hours to create a feast under the stars.
