Stellenbosch Academy Student named finalist for the Financial Mail AdFocus Awards 2015
We've had such an exciting last few months at the Academy and the great news is that things just keep on getting better! Megan Brits has been named as a finalist in the Financial Mail AdFocus Awards 2015, and is now in the running with just two other students for the main prize: a bursary to the value of R35 000. Megan's portfolio was entered in the Graphic Design category along with other students from the Academy. Amy Staak's was also entered for Graphic Design as well as Thabiso Ntuli's and Carel Pretorius' for Art Direction. Megan was the only finalist from the Academy but to Amy, Thabiso and Carel we say well done too! We are so proud!
Megan will be flown up to Johannesburg, along with the other two national finalists for the day of the AdFocus Awards on 25 November where she and the other finalists will be hosted for the day by an advertising or branding agency. In the evening, they will attend the AdFocus Awards themselves and get the amazing chance to rub shoulders with the real bigwigs of the advertising industry in South Africa and their work will be shown to everyone attending!
Judges for the award include Festus Masekwameng, former Loerie Awards chairman and chairman of the 2015 Annual AdFocus Awards; Vanessa Pearson, founder and executive creative director of the House of Brave agency; Pepe Marais, creative head at Joe Public; Thulani Sibeko, Nedbank's managing executive responsible for group marketing, communications and corporate affairs; Matthys Esterhuyzen, senior strategist at Hellocomputer; and Kagiso Musi, MD of Brand Union.
To Megan and our other chosen students who submitted their portfolios we say well done! We can't wait to see how you do - good luck!
